An opportunity for a city farm in Exeter?

Ready to go State of the art Regenerative No-Dig commercial market garden in the Exeter

Looking for experienced growers to take over asap

The growing area is 1/2 acre + a polytunnel (16x7m). The field has 142 permanent no-dig beds (10m x 30″) in great condition, and there is space and potential to add at least another polytunnel.

Irrigation is already set up (overhead outside and drip tape in the tunnel), as well as french drains and an artificial windbreak.

The area is fully fenced (rabbit- and deer- proof).

The custodian of Goffin Land is looking to rent a package including:
– the plot and the polytunnel
– use of a lean-to pack & wash station and a section of a barn for processing
– use of water from a borehole and electrical power (at cost)
£5k per annum negotiable and depending on applicant could include reduced rental period to support establishment of new business / CSA

LSG added a considerable amount to their business income by running education courses throughout the growing season. More polytunnels and more outdoor growing space were on the cards but never materialised as interest from Italy that drew the Italian couple, Dario & Flavia, back home, stalled any development.

SEE: https://biophilia.org.uk/regenerative-market-garden/  for last year’s offer of the business for sale.  Regrettably LSG did not find a buyer so now the  business price tag does not apply. Rent, as stated, is negotiable. I bought some of the basic infrastructure – compost bin system, wind breaks, wet room facilities etc. that’s all included in whatever rental agreement might be arranged. This market garden would suit as a separate entity to whatever may evolve on the whole farm.
